Cockroach Control in Middle Tennessee
German, American, and Oriental roaches behave differently — and require different treatments. We identify the species first, then treat the harborage.
About cockroaches in Middle Tennessee
Identification
Cockroaches are nocturnal, moisture-loving insects that hide during the day and forage at night. Seeing one in daylight usually means the harborage is much larger than what's visible.
Common species in Middle Tennessee
The three species we see most in Middle Tennessee are the German cockroach (kitchens, restaurants, apartments), the American cockroach (basements, sewer lines, commercial buildings), and the Oriental cockroach (crawlspaces, drains, and damp exterior areas).
Behavior
Roaches reproduce rapidly, favor warm and humid harborage, and can survive on very small amounts of food. Populations can double in weeks if the harborage isn't addressed directly.
Where they're commonly found
Behind refrigerators and stoves, under sinks, inside cabinet voids, floor drains, dishwasher motors, basements, crawlspaces, and around exterior plumbing.
Signs you have cockroaches
- Live roaches spotted during the day
- Dark pepper-like droppings in cabinets or behind appliances
- Small brown egg cases (oothecae) glued in corners
- A musty, oily odor in kitchens or storage areas
- Smear marks along baseboards or above cabinets
Why cockroaches are a problem
Health risks
Cockroaches are a documented trigger for asthma and allergies, especially in children. They can also carry bacteria across food-prep surfaces and stored goods.
Property impact
Heavy infestations can damage packaging, wiring insulation, and stored paper goods. Egg cases inside appliances can restart an infestation weeks after treatment.
Business implications
For restaurants, food service, and multi-family properties, a single visible roach can trigger health-inspection points or resident complaints. Documented IPM service is critical.
How we treat cockroaches
- 1
Thorough Inspection
We walk the interior and exterior to identify species, harborage, and pressure points — not just the activity you can see.
- 2
Identify the Source
Treatment only works when we know where the pest is actually coming from. We trace it back to the source before applying anything.
- 3
Targeted Treatment
The right product for the right species in the right place — applied strictly according to label directions.
- 4
Prevention & Monitoring
Ongoing exterior service, monitoring, and follow-ups so the problem doesn't come back a month later.
